Ted Dunlap

Ted Dunlap is a native of Dallas, Texas, where he graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School.  He played varsity basketball and was a manager for the football team.  He was named the Jesuit Secondary Education Association Ideal Graduate his senior year.

He attended Boston College and walked onto the Division I basketball team, later earning an athletic scholarship.  He was a part of the golden era of Eagles basketball, playing in both the Big East and ACC conferences, and helping the team to unprecedented success:  a #3 national ranking in 2005 and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2006.  He was twice named the Boston College Men’s Basketball Scholar Athlete.

After college, Ted moved to Los Angeles to join the nationally recognized PLACE Corps program through AmeriCorps and Loyola Marymount University where he earned his Masters in Secondary Education and was named to the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society.  He taught math and coached basketball at Serra High School in Gardena before being named Athletic Director.

As Athletic Director, he helped transform Serra into a state and national powerhouse.  Under his leadership, the Cavaliers captured 6 State and 18 CIF Southern Section Championships and were ranked as the best athletic program in California and 4th best in the U.S. by ESPN.  He elevated women’s and Olympic sports by expanding the department to include tennis, golf, swimming, and beach volleyball, and helped over 85 student-athletes participate in athletics at the collegiate level.

In 2014, he left Serra to earn his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.  After graduating, he joined Ernst & Young in their consulting practice.  He specialized in business strategy, process transformation, operational improvement, and change management for Fortune 500 clients across a range of sectors including health care-life sciences, media & entertainment, technology, and non-profit/education.  In addition to advising clients, he was active in the firm’s business and people development initiatives.

Ted lives in Dallas with his wife and two children.  In his free time, he enjoys attending sporting events, giving back to the local community, and vacations to the beach.
